JANUARY 2020

Year of the App Presentation:Insight Timer Meditation~Jan 6th, 6 to 6:30 p.m.
The Computer Center is making 2020 the Year of the App. Each month two apps will be featured in short, 30 minute classes. Each class will include a 10-15 minute demo of the app followed by hands on time helping you download the app to your device. Make sure to bring your smart phone or tablet to class if you plan to download and try out any of the apps. This session will feature Insight Timer, a meditation app. Insight Timer offers guided meditations, meditation times, music and sounds for meditation and more. Oak Lawn Public Library 

Make and Take Craft Night ~ January 7th from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Learn to make a new craft that you can take home. All materials provided. Limit 20. Register at the Oak Lawn Public Library 

Excel Basics ~January 9th from 6 to 7 p.m.

Learn the basic elements of Excel to create spreadsheets and charts. This class will provide an overview of Excel and an introduction to using basic formulas. Requires word processing skills and the ability to find and open files. *Note: Computer classes are first come, first served. Check-in for classes will begin 15 minutes prior to class time. Crochet Club ~ January 14th and 28th at 2 p.m.

Adults & Teens of all skill levels are welcome. Second and Fourth Tuesday of the month in lower level meeting room C. Bring your hooks and yarn and any current project. Beginners bring an H hook and skein of yarn (any color). Visit the events calendar on www.olpl.org or visit the second floor Computer Center and ask for Patty. Donations appreciated- yarn, needles, and craft supplies. Oak Lawn Public Library

Intro to Smart Phones ~ January 15th from 10 to 11 a.m.

Have a smart phone but not sure how to get started? This class will cover the basic features of smart phones, how to find and download apps, how to take and share pictures and more. Sunday with Friends Concert: A Tribute to Bobby Darin ~ Jan 19th, 2 to 4 p.m.

Entertainers Ron & Sandie bring you the finger-snapping songs of Bobby Darin. Enjoy the music of Bobby and his first true love Connie Francis, and listen to the fascinating stories of their lives. Oak Lawn Public Library

StoryWalk: The Snow Globe Family ~ January 20th, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Head over to Lake Shore Park, 9610 E. Shore Drive, to read The Snow Globe Family by Jane O’Connor on the StoryWalk Trail with Library staff and complete a craft with the Oak Lawn Park District. Ages 3 to 8 with an adult.
